Arbat Fine Art Gallery bought a painting that was previously attributed to Battista Dossi and had a very good provenance – from the collection of Duchess Marie-Caroline de Bourbon. The painting was acquired by the renowned Florentine antique dealer Carlo de Carlo two decades ago. We carried out a high-quality restoration of this small but beautiful painting.

We carried out four expert attributions and confirmed that the painting was not by Battista, but by his elder brother – the most famous Renaissance artist from Ferrara, Dosso Dossi. Thus, our gallery managed to restore this great artist’s name to the work.

Small in scale yet extraordinary in presence, the painting stands as a jewel of world art. We matched it with a fitting frame and have since showcased it in our exhibitions.
